Ask the seller to confirm in writing that the frame, doors and panels are solid teak, and inspect the inside and back, where material and workmanship show most honestly.
Check how the carcass is joined, how the back is attached, and whether doors and drawers are built to move with humidity. Solid wood expands and contracts with the seasons, and a well-made cabinet allows that movement in its panels and joinery instead of fighting it. Look at the quality of the hardware too, because hinges and runners are what you will live with daily.

4. Plan the inside: shelves, drawers and doors
The interior is where a cabinet earns its keep. Adjustable shelves fit changing contents, drawers suit smaller items that should not be stacked, and fixed shelves are stronger for heavy loads. Ask how shelves are supported and whether they can be repositioned, and confirm the depth works for what you will store, not just for what the cabinet will hold.
